Perkins Update

Well, I guess we're the only people who watch Kearney news! The big Perkins sign was blown over onto some cars in the parking lot. Didn't that make it into the Hub?
Is Aunt Celia at home? We'd like to send her a card, but we're not sure where to send it.
Jen, we too are anxious for an update... :)

Too bad the weekend has ended...

Too bad the weekend is ending... Hope everyone had an enjoyable Memorial Day weekend. We stayed busy fishing and playing outside. Christopher & Aaron went fishing in the boat on Saturday morning. Christopher caught 4 fish. He was (and still is) excited to tell everyone we talk to about his 4 fish and what kind of fish he caught. Sorry no pics, Dahrin and I weren't allowed to tag along for this trip. Christopher did manage to loose a fishing pole to a big fish just before heading in for the day. Even with the great catch, Christopher & Aaron didn't bring any home to eat.
We were watching the Kearney news today. Hope no one was at Perkins this weekend!!! I also saw Leslie doing a commercial. :)
Clay & Linds, we'll see you at Elliott's reception on Saturday. Hope you're ready to dance! We're also looking forward to the reunion and seeing everyone again this weekend, and spending MORE time outside. I'm looking a little lobsterish but hopefully that will subside before this weekend. See you all soon!

Flag

We saw the big flag the last few times we've been through Ord. We survived Sunday's typhoon camping in a tent at the ranch, with the dogs on less, and came back through Ord Monday and the flag suprizingly was still waving. When it's a little windy you can see it a couple mile's or more way up in the air over the city easy.

whoooosh

You Kansan's missing any trash cans, hats, bodyparts, chickens - most of that kind of stuff went by here today (gone) with the wind.

Summertime

Nothing very exciting is happening in Kansas. I'm into my second week of summer and haven't really done much. My research project will start next week, meanwhile I'm spendig some time in the library doing journal searches, cooking, knitting, cleaning, and being slightly bored. I know - it must be rough to feel boredom! Guess I'm programmed to be a life time student always on the go. I have realized that there is no way I could be a house wife. I think I would go stir crazy!! Hattie and I were sick of looking at each other yesterday so I took her to the bank drive-thru to get a doggie treat :)

I have a scholarship interview in Hastings on Friday and then I'm helping host a bridal shower for an undergrad friend in Wahoo on Saturday. Les's husband moves back this weekend so we are BBQing for Memorial Day at my parent's house. Lisa is due any day and we are holding our breath in anticipation for niece #7 (Addison is her name).

Clay is still busy with classes (nice change in roles in our house!) and work. Our garden is actually growing this year, so he is busy making sure all bugs are gone, the dog stays out, and things are watered. We will be in Kearney next weekend for Elliot's wedding (Clay is a groomsman). We're excited to see Nebraska friends again! Hernandez fam - are you coming?

Hope everyone stays healthy and/or heals fast!! Take care...

Wow!

Jen, how do you keep up?! Sorry to hear about Lauren, but glad to hear that she's still happy and giggly! How's Clint? Have you heard anything recently? Clay & Lindsay, we haven't heard from you in awhile... And those of you in central NE? Big storms this evening? They haven't made it to Lincoln yet, but it looks like they are on the way.

When it Rains it Pours

Little Lauren fell last Thursday and broke her collar bone. She is doing great and you would never know that she has a bone that is completly broken, not even touching at all! She just smiles and laughs most of the time. The doctors said there is nothing they can do for her, so we will wait and see if she will become the hunch back of notredame.

I hear that her daddy broke a few collar bones in the past!

Nice day in NE

Good to get caught up on everything! Glad to hear that Jordyn is doing well and that Lauren is crawling. I'm sure the two of them are quite a handful. We just got home from Christopher's last soccer game. He scored 7 goals all by himself! Christopher & Dahrin enjoyed spending the afternoon with Grandma & Grandpa too. We're looking forward to seeing everyone in a few weeks.

Well, Jordyn survived the surgery with flying colors. You would never know that she ever had anything done to her. Within four hours of arriving back home from the hospital she was up and running around like a banchie. I was very proud of how she acted during the whole procedure. While in the hospital recovery room, Clints Col's wife was Jordyns nurse. It helped me alot to have someone there that I knew would treat my baby with the best care possible.

Lauren is officially crawling now! She is in to everything. Very fast on all fours. I had forgotten what it was like to chase little girls through the house, but in the end it came back to me real fast.

I hope everyone had a great mothers day and that everyone is doing well.

Tonsils and such

I realized today that I had not told anyone about Jordyn having her tonsils taken out tomorrow. We are suppose to be at the hospital at 6am and the surgery starts at 8. They say it should be a short and sweet surgery. She is having her tonsils and adenoids taken out. She is suffering from sleep apnea and they feel it would be best for her to deal with surgery as a child than later in life. Pray for her! I think I am more nervous about her surgery than any surgery I have ever had!

Lauren went to the doctor today at Vanderbilt and they are going to run more tests on her. She is not getting better. You can hear her breathing in the next room. The test will be a couple of weeks from now. If the test go well they will continue on with her medicine that she has, if they go bad, they will do surgery on her esophagus to clear up any problems they might find.

On another note, Clints unit lost another soldier last week. A road side bomb hit his vehicle. I cannot wait until this is all over!

Hope everyone is well!

Ranch update

Hi all,
Yesterday was a nice day. Went up to the ranch and for once it wasn't terrible windy, hot or cold. Got the well repairs done and the fence all checked. They were wanting to move the cows in as soon as possible. I think they are needing the grass already sence it is just as dry there as it is here. Last year we had water holes everywhere but not this year. We saw lots of song birds and there are lots of wild flowers in bloom. The chockcherries are just blooming and there is also a couple of old lilac bushes in bloom.
Today I went to a seminar on improving your memory. It was interesting but fat chance that it help. Take care..............

Why?

We didn't know about Grandma's surgery - why did she need her gallbladder removed? Clay also wants to make sure no one else is sick, missing, or needing something that we should know about?!? Feeling very isolated in "Wheathead-ville"...
