The Turkeys have Flown the Coop

I think the turkeys in Steve and Marlenes yard have flown the coop and moved down south where the weather is warmer. My mom drove into her drive way today and there were two wild turkeys in the drive way. She said that she has never seen a wild turkey on their property in twenty years that they have lived there, so they must have flown the coop from Nebraska.

From Peter to Paul

Jen, I know where the money your getting from the IRS is coming from.

WHOO HOOO

I had to share the news with someone! Clint and I are getting a tax refund! First time in awhile........ Since my girls really don't care that mommy is getting some of her hard earned money back I had to tell someone that might feel my pain of taxes! I am so excited! I already have it spent.

I have put in a bid to buy two homes in the last week. One has been accepted and the other we will find out about next week. My plan is to fix up these homes and turn around and sell for a nice little profit within a month of buying them. One just needs some paint and some light fixture up dating and the other needs an entire makeover. My stepdad is going to help with that one. Poor Clint calls home from Iraq to find out that I have bought two more houses. But luckily his name won't be on the loan so he calmed down real fast. Wish me Luck in my new real estate adventure.............Only 8 more days till Clint comes home

Greetings from eastern NE

Hello! It was a beautiful day in Lincoln today. We only had about 10" of snow here. The kids loved it yesterday! Aaron wasn't as excited about the snow. He spend the day shoveling and getting our neighbors in and out of our street and their driveways. We all played in the snow after Christopher, Dahrin & I got home. We had a snowball fight, made snow mountains, and dug tunnels through our snow mountains. It was lots of fun! You can see in the picture the snow was perfect for snowballs! Amazingly they closed the bank yesterday at 4 so I was able to head out early and avoid the other crazy drivers. Today the sun was out and the roads dried up pretty quickly. Sounds like everyone to our west had a few more inches of soggy snow to scoop. :) I hear that it's supposed to be 50 degrees next week so I'm sure the beautiful white stuff won't be here too long.

Just South of North Pole

Does't look like we will be going to the ranch any time soon, radio said Chambers had 29 inches of snow.

I HATE SNOW

That's about all I can say.....I HATE SNOW!!! What a wonderful "Spring Break"

snow, buttercups, turkeys and more

Jennifer, hope you and Jordyn had fun picking your buttercups! It was hot enough here last weekend that Linds and I had the windows open, I think, as we dodged tornadoes and worked in our garden. This weekend, well.....havn't had as much snow yet as our northern counterparts but we've had a couple inches of rain, a lake in in our front yard, and now an inch of snow on top of that. Should be fun chipping ice in the morning! This is my finals week for my classes so I should be studying I guess. Got a big finance exam tomorrow. Yuck! Linds is on spring break and stuck in the house all day b/c of the weather. 'bout lost power all day today and the cable went out tonight, so her fun factor has gone out the window. Maybe I should be glad I'm stuck in a class room? Linds has resorted to making Easter cookies tonight. Hope all is well with every one. Mom and Dad, if you need any more turkeys we have more down here than you can shake a stick at. Clay

Geeee's

This stuff must have been backordered all Winter.

I cannot believe you guys have that much snow right now. I think it is great, wish I was there. Snow to us is about 2 inches. Jordyn and I were out picking buttercups yesterday in just our shirts but today we are all bundled up in sweaters and heavy jackets. Hope you guys enjoy the snow!

Spring?

'bout the same as where your at. This must be what they call a Nor'easter. I can still see out the window on the high side of the house.

turkey update

Looks like we have two turkeys homesteading in our back yard. We put a little cracked corn out for them, hope that was't a mistake. We'll have to invite them back for Thanksgiving.

Dates of Arrival

I booked our tickets today. I ended up using my skymiles for all of our tickets which means the choices of flights are not the best. So I decided instead of two layovers one with a four hour wait, I thought it would be best for us to fly into Omaha. So we will arrive in Omaha on April 11th a Tuesday and leave on Saturday April 15th. Looks like we are just going to rent a car so we dont have to inconvience anyone.

So, on another note, I saw that you guys might get a snow storm there? How can it be? It is March!

wildlife

Took the dogs out after supper and I saw two wild turkey's (not the dogs) walking along the South fence. First time in 30 years I can remember seeing wild turkeys in our yard.

We're alive

I left a comment on Jen's post, but I don't think everyone checks it. But we are fine, the storms were further east towards Lawrence and KC areas.
I have two exams the week that Clint and Jennifer will be back, one Thursday and one Friday. The earliest we will be able to leave Manhattan will be noon on Friday, which will put us in Kearney around 5 pm. So, it looks like Friday night might work for us as long as we get out of here as planned. I'm kinda leaving it up to Clay and Marlene to work out - he talked about coming back alone to get more time with everyone.
We are also planning on being with my family for Easter, so it will be a full weekend. Easter is my ABSOLUTE favorite time of year, and I'm very excited to help my nieces and nephew "hunt" for candy around the farm.
I have a crazy week with two difficult exams but Spring Break is within reach.....only 4 days and counting!

storms

Anyone hear from Clay and Lindsay today? Saw in the news they had some bad storms in Kansas. I hope they are okay. On another note it looks like Clint and I will be arriving in Nebraska on April 11th and leaving on April 15th. Hope we get a chance to see everyone while we are there.

Recipe's

I will work on some recipes that Clint and I love to make together. Our favorite things to do together are cooking & grilling, so I am pretty sure that we will do some grill recipes. Do I need to get these together before we come in April or can I wait until then?

News Article About Clints Company

Bastogne Soldiers of 1st Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment were recently partnered with an Iraqi Army Platoon to unite the Soldiers in the fight against terrorism, and have taken extra steps towards furthering the platoon’s training.Soldiers from 2nd Platoon, Company A, 1st Battalion, took a short walk through Forward Operating Base (FOB) McHenry to a small worn-out range to continue training their "partner platoon" of Iraqi soldiers on close quarters marksmanship and reflexive fire weapons tactics.According to 1st Lt. Tom Koh, the 2nd Platoon leader the Iraqi platoon is divided into two sections, allowing a group to focus on training while the other is on a combined mission with Coalition Forces. "One day they are here at the FOB [forward operating base McHenry], and the next day they are out on a mission," Koh stated. "This allows for no time to waste, and to always be doing something."The Bastogne Soldiers have taken it upon themselves to use their free time training the Iraqi soldiers they work side-by-side with, to help continue their soldier-skill development."Our main mission in Iraq is to train the security forces so they can protect their country," Koh commented. "We can capture bad guys all day; it’s training the Iraqis to capture the bad guys that will make a difference."Sergeant Mitchell Levart, a team leader for 2nd Platoon, stated that continuous training helps basic soldier skills become second nature, and eventually, like most U.S. Soldiers, the Iraqi soldiers won’t even have to think about what to do, they will just do it. Steady training and combined missions is 2nd Platoon’s strategy to help their Iraqi counterparts. According to Levart, integrating the Iraqi soldiers with U.S. Soldiers makes a dramatic difference in the Iraqi’s performance. "We don’t separate the two Armies during missions," commented Levart. "If there is an American Soldier pulling security, then there is an Iraqi soldier pulling security with him; when we clear a room, neither [American nor Iraqi] Soldier leads, we clear it together. We are there to accomplish the same mission."

Our girls

We're back home. We had a good time with the girls. Grandpa is good at holding sleeping baby, thats the only way we could get Lauren to nap. Lauren is such a easy baby. You look at her and she just smiles. She likes to eat her cereal and she will just coo and coo to you. Jordyn and I got to play outside since the weather was nice. She likes to swing and sing as she goes. Playing with her bouncy ball is one of her favorite things.

Clint coming home

Talked to Clint today and he mentioned he would be home on April 8th. This is not guaranteed, afterall it is the Army dictating when he can do anything. So we are working on a schedule of when we are coming to the Nebraska area. I do know that we will be in Tennessee for Easter. Jordyn is excited about being at home so the Easter Bunny can come and visit her. Once Clint and figure out everything, we will let everyone know.
